March 9th 1899 a meeting was called to order at 3:45 by Mr. Fredrick Adams and the begriming of what we know now as the Rhode Island Interscholastic League was formed ,members in attendance at that meeting was Cranston,Hope,East Providence,Classical English, Manuel Training ,and Pawtucket. A Board of Principles were elected as a governing body to over see high school athletics as we know it. Fredrick Adams was elected the Chairman of what we know as the principals committee on athletics. The first sport was put in place mach of 1899 the first officials Rhode island high school baseball season was scheduled  with a champion being crowned.  The first Interscholastic league champion was in Baseball and the Team was Classical English winning the first championship. Football was put in place September 1899 East Providence was crowned the champion. In march 1900 they added outdoor Track and classical English was crowned champion.
