Classical Cross Country Team at Class A Championship at Deerfield Park, Smithfield, R.I.

Ladies,

You all did an awesome job at the Class A Championships. I am so proud of all of you!

Congratulations for finishing 6th place in the Class A Division missing 5th place by 6 points!

You are only the 3rd team in the history of Classical Girls Cross Country to finish 6th in the Class A Championships!  The 1992 team was the first and last years 2019 did also.

The weather was tough today with temperature in the high 70's with High humidity.  You were able to persevere and come out with some outstanding performances at the Class A Meet.

Caroline Jankowich finished 2 at the Class meet today with a time of 19:18 setting a new PR for a 5k this year.  She is the only Classical girl to make First Team All State as a sophmore since Cross Country was established in 1992 at Classical.

Congratulations Caroline for making First Team All State today.! It was an outstanding, aggressive performance staying with the leader at the start of the race.

Grace Doyle was the second purple harrier across the finish line with a time of 22:16. Ruby Groves was the third Classical girl with a time of 22:47. That was a season PR for Ruby. Sofia Gertrudes was 4th with a time of 23:23 establishing a new PR for this year.  Anne Marie Nagle was the fifth harrier with a time of 24:00 also setting a new PR.

Qwin Cute ran extremely well today fighting off an asthma attack due to the weather. She was able to manage a 24:49 with the attack. Great courage Qwin!

Elena finished 7th for the team with a time of 25:27. Elena tried her best today finishing the race today while loosing training time the past few weeks due to a hip injury,

Next week the Cross Country Championships will be held at Ponagansett High School.
