ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine track and field program received a commitment from thrower Cheyenne Figueroa.
"Chey is going to have an immediate impact on Black Bear track and field. She is a very gifted and well-rounded thrower indoors and out," said Coach Brian Woodbury. "Her personal records in discus and weight throw are well above our current school records, and her marks in shot put and hammer will also comfortably land her in the Top 10 in school history."
Figueroa is transferring to The University of Maine from the University of Massachusetts. She was a six-time New Balance All-American in the weight and hammer throw, with personal records of 62' 8.5" and 187' 5" respectively. She went on to win silver and bronze medals in hammer and discus at the A-10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
"Having a student-athlete and competitor like Chey commit to Maine is a testament to the strength of the program and culture we are building in Orono," Coach Woodbury continued. "She instantly elevates our program and has a very bright future as a Black Bear"
