Marthaline Cooper Is Honorable Mention Big South Women's Field Athlete of the Year

ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop freshman Marthaline Cooper was one of three athletes who received honorable mention recognition for the 2014 Big South Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Year.
Cooper (Providence, RI) had an outstanding freshman year as she set a school record of 56.84 meters in the hammer throw and ranked 33rd in the region which qualified her for a spot in the East Regional where she finished 42nd. Joining her on the honorable mention list were Mychelle Cumings from Liberty and Kayin Mujahid of Gardner-Webb. Chrissy Rickert, a sophomore at Charleston Southern, was voted the BSC Field Athlete of the Year. She claimed the 2014 Big South title in the javelin event. |
